What Can You Learn From These?

You don't have millions to spend on institutional advertising, so why do I even bring these up to you?

Because they're memorable. Those you recognized immediately have worked. Those you recognized and new what the PRODUCT or SERVICE was worked WELL. And those you knew the product, service, AND who sponsored it work VERY well.

Keep that in mind when building your own slogans or graphics to work with your materials.

Oh, and one more thing: repetition really DOES work! YOU get tired of your own materials MUCH faster than your prospects, clients, and customers do... so keep with it for a while: changing your look, statements, logos, slogans too quickly leave a prospect confused, and a "Confused Mind Always Says NO!"

Lessons for Life - Optimism Improves Your Life

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Learn How To Control Your Thoughts To Control Your Life

If you look on the bright side of life, your life will be brighter.

I'm not talking about just wishing for good things, I mean the deep down inside you when you think good thoughts, you life will improve.

When it rains, what do you say?

"What lousy weather it is."

OR...

"We need to rain for things to grow, so even though it's dark outside and I'll get wet when running my errands, we do need the rain."

A recent study at the University of Pittsburgh showed that those who are optimistic live longer than those who are pessimistic.

But we KNEW that, right?

Gratitude Journal Keeps My Thoughts In The Right Place

Right before I go to bed, I write in my gratitude journal.

Some days I have TONS of things to write and some days I struggle to get all 5 that I write each night.

Some days have been like that: routine, hard work writing at the computer, lots of time exploring my own thoughts without sharing much time with others.

And some days I'm out among loving, caring people and I overflow with thoughts about how grateful I am for life.

But we each need to remember that it's the small things that add up to MAKE our lives.

My Kids Tease My About My Calendar

I also keep special, recurring notes in my electronic calendar... times when Liz auditioned for a show, when Stacie started a new job (most recently at City Year - a GREAT national organization based in Boston - City Year - Learn More By Clicking Here!), when Pam had a happy time at work or with our family, and then lots of small moments for me and friends - anniversaries, when children were born, when I photographed weddings, bar mitzvahs, or opened one of the many theater productions I've directed over the years.

OK... so I have a few things like when we received a cat, the birthday of our dog, etc. (My kids say I have things like when our dog first pooped or our cat first hid under the sofa - not quite, but amusing to look at life like that).

It never ceases to amaze me how QUICKLY time has passed from one year to the next to five years to ten years. And without this calendar, I would forget those special moments and be able to relive the happiness they brought me.

We really CAN control our own moods, our thoughts, how we see the world, and it's vital to our health that we do that.

Liz Teaches Me A Lesson About Our Moods When We Wake Up

I've known for a long time that when I go to bed happy, I wake up happy.

I saw this first-hand when my younger daughter, Liz, needed some oral surgery... even the doctor told us this: however she is feeling when the anesthetic puts her to sleep, that's how she'll wake up.

Liz was REALLY nervous about having surgery under her tongue, and wouldn't you be too? She's a singer and if whatever her problem was caused too much damage in her mouth, taking it out MIGHT affect her vocal chords and her singing. (If you've heard her singing, you'll know that the surgery came out OK - Hear Liz Seymour Sing On Her New CD - Click Here!)

Liz's nervousness turned into tears as she was put under, and when she awoke with the ranula removed, she was VERY upset and in tears.

There is a life lesson here - how we go to sleep affects how we wake up. And how we wake up affects how our day goes.

"As goes the first hour of the day, so goes the day," a marketing guru friend of mine used to preach.

Wake up happy, refreshed, grateful for what you have and you jump out of bed and into your work.

Go to bed angry, upset, down on yourself, and you'll struggle to take any positive action during the next day.

The way YOU want to approach the world, get things done, find your dream and pursue it? Make sure you have positive thoughts, attitudes, lessons all around you. Those alone can't create the success you're looking for, but without them, you'll be mired in self-pity and stuck in the mud on the road to success.

Twitter For Business - Using The Twitter Effect To Help YOUR Business

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Learn How To Use Twitter To HELP Your Business

This is not a surprise for those of us working in Social Media Marketing, but it's still a surprise to me to read this.

I really have to chuckle: Hollywood is all a buzz about The Twitter Effect.

Where the heck have they been?

Don't they have anyone on their staffs who understand Social Media?

(OK, I admit it: I ALMOST said "don't they have anyone on their staffs under the age of 30, but since I passed that milestone years ago and clearly know how to use Social Media, I won't continue that stereotype any longer!)

Newspapers Tell About Hollywood's Fear Of People Who Send Tweets

Did you see this article in your local paper? (You DO still read the newspaper, right? If Baby Boomers are part of your market you should - THEY still read papers almost as much as they read online information.)

The headline was, "Hollywood a flutter about the 'Twitter Effect.'

It's as if Hollywood producers just woke up.

Didn't they see all the reports about Iran's election when the population sent messages around the world? Don't they believe the reports that people like Proctor and Gamble (you can't get much more "main stream" and "institutional" in advertising than P&G) are using Social Media. Don't they see that the "kids" are using text messages in the THOUSANDS each month, going one on one with their friends... and then using the same texting technology to use Twitter to go one to MANY?

So... what is Hollywood so afraid of?

YOU. Me. And THOUSANDS like us being able to communicate freely and within seconds of discovering what we like or dislike.

WHY are they so afraid and what happened to make them stand up and notice?

We saw some movies, we didn't like them, we told people... and the attendance plummeted.

Word of mouth was always impactful, but now it's at the speed of light.

Website - Internet Marketing For Profit

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Turn Your Words Into Gold And Your Website Into A Machine

What Are Most People Looking For When They Search Google?

They want information like why their heart is racing, how to fix their computer, what's the best fertilizer for their home-grown tomatoes.

They do NOT search for "how can I spend money?"

That's not to say that people don't buy on the internet... clearly they do. But let's see how you should best approach people who find your website and visit.

How does someone get to your website?
Traffic You Control, Traffic You Don't Control

Have you ever thought about the traffic that comes to your website... not everyone came from the same place or for the same reason.

Perhaps they did a search on Google (or other search engine) and something from your website caught their attention in the "organic search results" in Google - you know, where the search results appear on the left side of the Google Search Results.

I call that traffic you don't control. Google "spidered" your website, indexed whatever it found, and listed you in their giant database. Interested people will click on the search result and go wherever Google sends them.

This is Traffic You Don't Control.

However... if you send out a tweet with a link to somewhere on your website, send out an email with a link embedded, or publish an article with a specific link embedded in the article, this is Traffic You Control.

NEVER send Traffic You Control to the head of your website: ALWAYS send it to a specific location INSIDE your website so that the interested person will go EXACTLY where s/he intends to go. You will eliminate much confusion this way.

Dynamic vs Static Websites

I cringe when I see the "old-style" websites - you know, those places where you arrive at the front page, have no idea what the site is about, and they expect you to know which button to press to learn enough about them so you can make sense of what is in front of you.

And most of them are static, hardly ever change, and though they may be graphically appealing, they don't help the visitor and they don't encourage Google either.

Google LOVES dynamic information on a website, so keep yours active and refreshed.

What's The Biggest Problem With Most Websites?

Most websites are created by graphic designers who don't know marketing. But even that isn't the biggest problem with most websites.

Most websites are created without a Clear Goal In Mind.

What do you want your website to DO?

With most of my clients, they generally are building an email list, so THEIR goal is to capture the name and address of the visitor. Period.

Not convince them you are a genius. Not sell them three of your best products. Not to amuse or entertain them.

All of those are FINE goals, but YOU must define the ONE goal of your site and then be sure you meet it.

What Should You Do To Hold A Visitor?

Here is a quick list that should help your visitors once you get them to your site (getting them there is a whole other topic!).

1. Always have a headline that calls out to your visitor. The NAME of your site or YOUR name means no more to any of them than Joe's Bar and Grille means to you. Give them a statement in a headline to tell them why they are at your site and what you want them to do.

2. Offer something immediately - and it's best if it's free. A free downloadable audio. A free report in pdf. A free with shipping offer. GIVE something so you get their name and email address. THEN let them see more of your website. Most people search the internet for information, not something to spend their money on... so show them that YOU have that information and give it to them - when they want MORE, they can get it from you (and by then you will have their name and email address so you will be staying in front of them). NOTE - If you are a site where people go already expecting to buy something (like QVC, Staples, Amazon, etc) the rules are different because people DO want to purchase - give them a chance with very few clicks!

3. Ask for as little information as you really need. JUST getting an email address is easier than and email address and name. And email address and name are easier to get than email address, name, physical address. Start where you know you want to begin, and that is, at a minimum, getting their email address.

4. Take as small a step as you can when someone first comes to your site. Think of it as a conversation between two attracted people. Clearly you wouldn't see the person of your dreams and say, "Will you marry me?" But that's what LOTS of people do to people first coming to their sites: they want TOO much information and they ask the visitor to take a big leap of faith, trust them, and buy from them. Hey, it's not IMPOSSIBLE to sell to someone the first time s/he visits your site... but it's MUCH more difficult.

5. Be different, stand out from the crowd, have people remember you and your site. Be sure not to use the same template that everyone else in your industry uses - people want to work with people, not a carbon-copy of someone else.

6. Have a Welcome and a Welcome Video. Say hi to people when they join your site. Realize that lots of people view your website at work and often work does not allow speakers, so you need a text message there too. But welcome people, tell them quickly what your website is about and how they can use it, and then get their name and email address.

7. And one more thing: check how your website looks in a variety of web browsers. For my OWN websites, I find that close to 40% of the viewers still use the very old Microsoft Internet Explorer 6... and with today's advances, that old browser doesn't correctly process all the new advance techniques. So check to see how you look to avoid any bad curb appeal.

There are SO many more things you can do... but these 7 are a good beginning.

Hope this helps.

And then see MY blog my clicking HERE! See how I approach my passions with this website.

Blogging - The Movie Julie and Julia Can Inspire You

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Blogging - Find Your Passion, Start Writing, KEEP Writing

I'm a man whose passions run deeply.

Family, theater, marketing, movies... I care deeply about each one.

I LOVE going to the movies. I enjoy theater, I enjoy DIRECTING theater, I enjoy musical theater most - but MOVIES really take me away like nothing else.

They transport me, make me think, help me laugh and cry, and make me feel great just as I need them.

They give me freedom to dream like little else does.

And there is a ritual that accompanies me every time I go to a movie: I need something to eat and drink, I need to sit near the back of the theater (dang that motion-sickness I feel as a passenger in a car that affects how closely I can sit in a movie), and I love to laugh out loud when something amuses me - doesn't matter if the theater is full or nearly empty, I really enjoy myself!

Why do YOU see certain movies?

Have you ever stopped to think WHY you see a certain movie when you do? WHY does it draw your attention at that very moment? WHY do you feel compelled to see it? Why does it call out to you, make you reach for your wallet, and then get you to empty a large portion of your wallet for the ticket and refreshments.

Even for an early matinee the movie cost $8.00 with nearly double that for refreshments (but it's STILL a bargain when I figure the pleasure I receive!).

Especially in this Worldwide Economic Meltdown of 2008 - 2009 - why do movies call to you?

Education? Adventure? Some laughter or tears? A way to clear your mind and take you away from what you're working on if even for a few hours?

Julie and Julia - Bloggers Unite!

My wife, Pam, and I saw the movie Julie and Julia starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, and I thought I should blog about it.

It is a movie about the life of Julia Child AND the life of blogger, Julie Powell in writer-director Nora Ephron's adaptation of two true stories: Julie and Julia by July Powell and My Life in France by Julia Child.

The story lines are interwoven and the two never meet, being separated by time and locations. (The way the story is told reminded me of Cabaret which was originally written as two stories (inside the Cabaret and then the story about Sally Bowles) which was meshed together by legendary director-producer Harold Prince like the fingers of your hands when clasped together.

Julia is the world-famous American chef and Julie is the completely unknown blogger in the early turn of this century when blogging wasn't really known. (I admit that MOST people STILL don't know what blogging is, but since you are reading this YOU do... but in 2002 or 2004, I have a feeling you didn't know what it was!)

Why focus on this movie in this blog?

Because Julie found something that interested her and she started writing. She didn't know if she'd find an audience, she didn't search thousands of keywords, she didn't probe deeply into Google to see if she'd gain traction: she just started writing.

And NOW look at her success.

My parents, in their late 80s, love the movie and so did Pam and I. I, however, saw it on a much deeper level from my other family members: as a blogger, podcaster, and consultant, I felt what Julie was going through when writing to an undefined audience. I felt her pain of doing it day after day. I shared her triumph when the NYTimes discovered her and let the print-world learn about her.

See the movie if you need a pick-me-up... it's bound to give you a bit of cheer just when you need it.

And if you've already SEEN this movie, leave a comment here: let me know what you thought about it! We'll pass on your thoughts to Meryl, Amy, and Nora!

And then see MY blog my clicking HERE! See how I approach my passions with this website.

Best,

Unemployment - Work At Home May Be Your Answer NOW

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Getting Fired - You never forget that time you were fired, so maybe it's time to work at home

You know how it is... you probably worked for a company at some other time. Maybe you saw others around you getting fired; maybe YOU were fired.

But working from home, though not a joy ride and certainly with long hours of work, has many advantages for the person who is properly in sync with how entrepreneurs think and work.

What Newspapers Tell Us

The Philadelphia Inquirer is probably like a lot of newspapers in the world - understaffed, losing money, trying to stay afloat.

And as it does, it features a series of articles about Being Fired. Well, that's not what THEY call it; their title is Jobs At A Loss - Upheaval in the Region's Job Market but believe me, those PEOPLE who are listed as statistics know what it is: they've been fired.

The Headline is:

The ax falls, and then what?

The article by Inquirer Staff Writer Alfred Lubrano is filled with statistics and anecdotes. And it's filled with one more thing: pain.

Human pain.

Human suffering when 13.2 million people in the USA are unemployed (that only counts those still looking for work - those who have given up don't count, it seems) and 210,000 in our immediate 8-county area.

"But while the Philadelphia region is papered with pink slips, a layout can still hit with the potent surprise of an unforeseen meteor."

It has been known for a long time by psychologists that being fired is as difficult on the individual as a death in the family, divorce, or other traumatic, stress-producing situation.

And what goes deeper is what happens to the individual, and it's repercussions are long-lasting.

"Shame, fear, and panic can barge into a person's head after the initial trauma."

People have pointed out that in this Great Recession people who thought they were recession-proof are now on the unemployment lines - in Philadelphia, as an example, a major law firm collapsed and closed. (And when I was selling investment real estate in the 80s and 90s, this was THE real estate law firm.)

Where Did The Dream Go?

I've often written about and created a video about The Dream - Where Did The Dream Go? It's gone for many people.

We were told to grow up, do well in school, select a major carefully, specialize, earn a good living, get married, raise 2.5 kids, help them grow well, get married, and the circle continues.

We did that, but things have come crashing down for many people.

Savings, Never Done Well By Most Americans, Evaporate

401(K) accounts are half what they were only 8 months ago. A friend say he now has a 201(K) and my good friend Neil Radisch (with whom I wrote "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" as a major musical) wrote me on Facebook that he now has a 4.01(K).

I know the pain there, with my own IRA dropping 50%. Even some recent turn arounds haven't helped much.

The Dream may still linger, but the funds to make it happen are gone. (For now, at least.)

Personal Memories Never Die

The reason I started this website (and the business to support it) was because of the terrible crushing pain that many people feel when they are fired. I want to help.

Having faced it twice myself, I know the lasting, deep-seeded pain that lingers.

I still have images of my younger daughter, while she was in middle school, crying with covers pulled up over her head when I arrived home having been fired and saying, "They stole your dream, Daddy."

That's the last time I worked for someone else.

Oh, sure… being a Work at Home Dad has its tough parts too, but never again will my family suffer like that.

I started a whole business to help people who were fired, unemployed, thinking about working from home.

Shame, Pain, And The Lasting Upset Of Being Fired

This part of The Inquirer's article really got to me… a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes as I read it because I've been there and understand the pain of both the child and the parent.

"One recent day, he [Dan Perry, the subject of much of the article] stalked the rooms of his modest house decorated with family photos, no kids or wife about. 'It's eerie, weird,' he said. 'I'm used to hubbub. It's just a house, not a home, when I'm here alone in the day.'"

That will change… at least it has for me. In fact, I thrive being here by myself for most of the day.

"One evening not long ago, Perry say his daughter, Rebekah, 16, typing up the lesson plans of her advanced-placement history teacher.

"'What's this?' he asked.

"'I'm typing her notes for $80,' Rebekah said.

"That was the price of a class trip to Washington. Rebekah knew her father had lost his job and was loath to ask for money. So she asked her teacher for some work.

"Later that night, Perry lay awake in bed at 4 AM, the small and desperate hour when, many unemployed people report, they are alert and anguished. He contemplated Rebekah and the $80.

"'My heart was heavy with sadness for how my daughter was regarding this,' Perry said. Children's reactions are often profound."

And believe me, they never forget the pain of seeing their hero, their leader, their rock and support suffering.

"Perry cannot not worry. 'At night, I go to this secret place in my soul, and it's like I'm standing in front of a mirror alone. I have no one to hold to account but myself. And I look at myself and ask, 'What am I going to do?' There's a mortgage and cars and other things to be paid, and no one's hiring. How am I going to help my family?'"

Men Often See Themselves AS Their Jobs

Men and women look at this situation very differently, with us men basing much of our self-image on our jobs.

I remember in the very early 1990s having had a nightmare that woke me up in a cold sweat. I dreamed that I would no longer be a Vice President of Jackson-Cross Company (then a huge commercial real estate brokerage firm in Philadelphia, where I sold $247,368,657.97 of Investment Real Estate and marketed more than $1 billion for others in the first as the company's VP of Marketing and Planning). I'd been there for 13 years, done very well, was respected throughout the industry as a top salesman, but my mind was already playing games with me as the economy was rocked at that time, though not as much as now.

I wasn't fired, I went to work for myself. And I had been doing most of the work from home already (since 1983 when Liz was born). But the self-image was rocked and my whole body knew it.

The Only Way To Get Through This Is Together

Those who survive times like this find help in others. Others who have been through it. Others who can steer them in the right direction for new job skills. Others who are supportive, upbeat, have the energy for two people… since the fired person has lost much of the energy needed to prosper.

Mastermind groups. Small business support groups. And yes, even a group like the one found here on UltimateWorkAtHomeDads.com where we support Dads now working at home (or looking to work from home).

We're here. We hope you'll let us know how we can help.

And though we can't erase the burned-in images and the pain caused by your being fired, we're here to get you back on your feet as quickly as possible and make the transition to working from home a smooth one.

Salesmanship - Sell Yourself FIRST To Win New Business

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Selling yourself FIRST wins over people and THEN you win over new business

Everything you do or say, how you dress and carry yourself, how you speak and write (even in short emails that you feel "don't matter), and whether you are an "on-time person" or one who is always late combine to be the "brand" that is YOU.

And it ALL matters.

It is how your clients and customers think about you.

Did you ever hear the story about the blind men and the elephant?

The first man touched the elephants trunk and described it as a flexible, long creature.

The second man touched the elephants tusk and thought it was a very hard, smooth, upward-pointed animal.

The third touched the elephants hoof and thought it was a large, flat, very heavy creature with several smoothe places (the tone nails).

And the fourth touched the tail and thought it was a short, pliable snake-like animal with hair at the end.

Each one "knew" the elephant for what his experience told him... and each was correct, but only PARTIALLY correct.

The same is true for YOU... whatever you show your prospects is how they see YOU and the work you do.

Be confident, they see confidence. Be a great salesman, full of knowledge, and they see a knowledgeable salesman. Be their adviser and advocate, and they see someone on THEIR side of the table who is there to help.

Be a wimp, and they see someone they don't want to do business with again.

If you are looking for a job, looking for employment, looking for a way to start your own business, be sure that what you show to people is the side of you that you want exposed.

For just as the blind men of the story thought they knew the elephant, people you come in contact with THINK they know you.

Be down, be loud, be obnoxious even ONE time, and it resonates with those who come in contact with you. But be UP, encouraging others around you, seeing the bright side... and that can work magic on people.

The northeast of the USA has had lots of rain. I often hear people say, "Ugh... what a horrible day." But what if we had no rain? What if the plants stopped growing? What if it were hot, muggy, and gardens were withering? Wouldn't the rain look pretty good THEN?

So LOOK for the good and then present yourself well to win new business. Keep your spirits high, see the good in what (and who) is around you, and you will win in just about everything you do.

It's a scary time out there in that economy of uncertainty.

And as the saying goes: It's a RECESSION when others are out of work; it's a DEPRESSION when YOU are out of work. And even if you work for yourself but have no paying assignments to keep you going, it's a tough place.

Let's stay away from the DEPRESSION. Being a part of the Great Recession is bad enough.

It's time to stay positive, upbeat, alert to new opportunities.

OK... so your dream left you a long time ago but you came up with NEW dreams and you know that only YOU can pick you up and get you moving.

Do it. Get moving. KEEP moving. Know that you have to sell yourself FIRST to win new business and that often YOU are the product.

Be sure to present yourself WELL!

Best,

Be Your Own Boss - Turbo Charge Your Work At Home

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Be Your Own Boss - Don't let anything get in your way

OK... so your dream left you a long time ago, you have come up with NEW dreams, and you know that only YOU can pick you up and get you moving. The economy has turned south, it languishes, and really doesn't show any sign on improving.

Well, small signs, but are they signs that impact you directly?

If you're like most people, the answer is no. You see some signs on the evening news or in the paper, but nothing affecting YOU directly... yet. Maybe some things for larger businesses but not for the type like you and I operate.(And let's face it, the only signs that matter are the ones that impact YOU directly... after all, we all listen to the same radio stations in our brains: WIIFM: What's In It For Me - so we want to see improvement to the economy around those things that impact use directly!)

So, what are you doing to be a successful entrepreneur, now that you are your own boss and run your own business? How do you create your own work at home now that you are the boss?

How do you start to improve?

My suggestion (especially if you haven't done this yet): set up a blog right now. Blogger is ok - clearly I think highly enough of it that I am using it; having your own WordPress website is even better.

Notice I said as your own website: yes, use WordPress to create the WHOLE website and then blog from it too, acting like a magnet to Google and other search engines.

Find out what you are passionate about and start writing - every other day at least. 250 - 500 works is all that is needed, but more when the juices are really flowing.

Is it photography? making a specific product? creating software? teaching others how to do what you used to do? And as you narrow your focus so people learn about you, you'll find work to do from your home as an entrepreneur.

The writing will be therapeutic (helping to clear your brain and focus your emotions) AND people will learn about you through the information you write (just as YOU are finding out about me right now!). So you will better understand yourself and your desires as you help others learn about you.

Did you think about working for yourself for a long time? Did the Worldwide Economic Meltdown of 2008 - 2009 throw you out onto the trash dump of the unemployed with nowhere to turn - is that why you're on your own? No hope right in front of you because things aren't going as well as you need? No fast lane to the success you've dreamed about?

Well you DO have somewhere to turn and you're learning about it right now.

Watch this short movie to see if you relate to it: Turbo Charge My Work At Home - Click Here To Watch!

You CAN do this, it just takes some practice and some advice. Heck, you didn't finish school without some serious work, did you? You couldn't do your previous work without someone talking things through with you, right? That's what's needed now too.

Find someone you admire who's succeeding where you want to and follow him or her: now is the time to change your life and get things going again. You KNOW you can do this, it's time to prove it.

And it all starts with your understanding where you ARE and where you want TO GO. And then you must take ACTION.

Again, watch this short movie to see if you relate to it: Turbo Charge My Work At Home - Click Here To Watch!

Then sign up for our free electronic newsletter and get thing going!

You've been working on your own for a while: now it's time to SUCCEED!

Best,

Blogging - Optimize Your Posts For High Search Engine Results

Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr

Blogging For Business Can Be Fun And Profitable

Search engine optimization for blogs is easy to do if you follow a few rules.

And when you do, you will turbo charge your work at home, get people AND Google to find you, and turn your words into gold.

Follow these rules to improve your blogging success:

1. Create a list of at least 50 keywords that apply to your business.

2. Each time you write a blog post, write on ONE topic... THIS post is about Blogging (it's not about guarantees or offers or direct mail - it's about writing a blog).

3. Write at least 2 times every week - you aren't creating huge novels, just some blog posts of great content. And as #2 said, keep the topic to ONE of your keywords and be sure to explain it fully.

4. Use Keywords in your title - notice how my title STARTS with the keyword? "Blogging - Optimize Your Posts For High Search Engine Results" is a much stronger title for Google than, say, Get High Search Engine Results By Optimizing Your Blogging." Can you see why? Words to the left and higher in the post are given more weight than words to the right (near the end of a sentence) and lower down the post.

5. Restate your keywords in your comments. When someone leaves a comment for you, don't even just say "thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate it." Instead say something like, "Thanks for your comment about my Blogging for Business post - I appreciate your thoughts." Sometimes comments are read by themselves, and now anyone ready my comment will know WHY I was pleased that a comment was left.

6. Use keyword-rich anchor text to link your blogs. HUH? You know, text links that have your keywords in them. And then create links that point to your other blogs or your main website, like this: Business Blogging by Charlie Seymour Jr - Read UltimateWorkAtHomeDads.com blog - Click Here! Google will now find THIS post and travel along this anchor text to find my main site.

7. Have you noticed that I use text bolding on many of my keywords? Google sees that too, and it makes these words even more important. Google feels that if you use BOLD, ITALICS, UNDERLINE, etc (though usually I stay away from underlining since it can be confused with a live link), you are telling the reader that these words are important, and if they are important to YOU (the writer), they are important to Google.

8. Make use of H1, H2, and H3 tags. Often blogs will do that for you automatically. The title of this blog is automatically put into an H1 tag... but I often add more of these tags since I know Google Likes them. "Blogging For Business Can Be Fun And Profitable" at the top was put into an h2 tag, to tell Google I felt it was important.

9. Though you might not be able to see it, the "alt text" for that little line drawing of me at the top of this post has "Internet Marketing Expert Charlie Seymour Jr" in it. Google sees that and connects what was written there to the entire article. It's good if you can name your images with good keywords too, something I don't always do but know I should.

10. Use your keyword in the title, at the top of your post, AND repeat it at the end. You saw the title already. You can see that my h2 tag the word in it. And now look below to see that the last word I use is ALSO the keyword.

Don't over do these. Don't "stuff" your keyword everywhere you can - this needs to look and read well, but follow these 10 steps to improve your Search Engine results when you blog... and you'll be glad you did!

Business Marketing - 5 Steps To A New Income THIS Year

Learn From Dave Dee and Alexis Martin Neely and Go From Concerned To Congratulations!

I’m a marketer and have been marketing ever since I left Wharton Graduate (of the University of Pennsylvania) in 1975 with my MBA in marketing, management, arts administration. First it was the arts then major investment real estate and the whole company, then off into my own businesses beginning as early as 1983.

Hundreds of millions of dollars in personal sales. A billion or more dollars through my marketing skills. And a life-style that allows me to select the type work I want to concentrate on. A bit from Column A, some from Column B... but always with a plan and great direction.

And since earning my formal degrees, I’ve been a student every day – learning from the best people I can find. Those teaching me (in one way or another) include:

Dan Kennedy, Bill Glazer, Michael E. Gerber, Napoleon Hill,
Jay Abraham, Zig Ziglar, Corey Rudl, Don Crowther, John Reese,
Mark Victor Hansen, Gary Halbert, Tom Hopkins, Ken McCarthy,
Jeffrey Gitomer, Nido Quobein, Declan Dunn, Joe Sugarman,
Jay Conrad Levinson, Robert Ringer, TJ Rohleder, John Caples,
John Carlton, Dave Dee, Alexis Martin Neely, John C. Maxwell,
Brian Tracy, Jim Edwards, Joe Vitale, Tom Antion, Mark Joyner,
Charles J. Lewis, Harry Beckwith, Robert Bly, Joe Girard,
Jeffrey J. Fox, Mike Stewart, Joan Stewart, Clate Mask,
Robert Collier, Bill Crosby, Brian Campbell, Howie Schwartz,
Andy Jenkins, Seth Godin, David Frees, Brad Fallon, Frank Kern,
Yanik Silver, Fred Gleeck, Derek Gehl, and more

Two from this list are Dave Dee and Alexis Martin Neely. Learn About Dave & Alexis Newest Information – Click Here!

I am mentioned in more of Dave’s products than any of single individual. I was just listening to another of his very helpful products about email marketing and he mentioned me quite prominently and read some of my materials. He has done that on other occasions too.

Why is that?

Dave and I share a love of learning: learning from success, and then sharing those successes with others.

And I pay him when I learn from him. And he pays me when I help get people to learn from him. We know that what we pay for, we appreciate even more, and we work hard to use the information we learn.

Like me, Dave & Alexis help business owners, like you, who've already figured out how to bring revenue into your core business; leverage your business SYSTEMS, processes, and intellectual property; and then take what you’ve learned to help other people.

And if you learn how to do it and work at it, you can turn your “sideline” business into a 6 figure (or more) profit center within your business (by packaging the way you do things in your own business and licensing your way of doing things to non-competitors in your industry).

In this season of Independence Day, this could be the start of REAL independence in your life.

Here’s what I’ve learned through Dave & Alexis:

* The exact five part blueprint you can use immediately to generate a huge cash flow surge into your new side profit center...Four of their students had immediate cash flow surges of $75,000, $63,000, $34,000 and $15,000 last month - the very first time they implemented the 5-step formula!

* How your side profit center will re-ignite the passion you once had for your business. (Remember how you felt when you first started your business? Now you can experience that excitement again because you will help others do the same thing!)

* How to uncover the six figure products that lie hidden in your business. Yes, right now you have untapped assets you aren't even aware of... Stop to think about that: how many things do you do in your business that other people would LOVE to know how to do! You uncover those assets and then learn how to turn them into big profits. Systems and methods you use now are valuable to other people.

* How to move beyond the income ceiling you've either already hit (or are about to hit) with your current dollars-for-time trade-off. Let’s face it: there are only 24 hours in every day, so earning money THAT way MUST produce a limit. And even if you've moved beyond an hourly billing model, as long as YOU are YOUR PRODUCT (and let’s face it, most of us sell ourselves as our real product), you're going to hit a ceiling on your earning capacity very quickly.

* The very best parts of sharing your information and knowledge with others in your industry has very little to do with the money (that's gravy!) - the best part is the fulfillment you experience when people thank you with tears their eyes for your helping them to do what they do better and more efficiently. Imagine being in a meeting away from your office and someone thanks you in front of your friends and colleagues because your help meant so much to her. Believe me, that re-ignites your energy and you know why are you put on this earth.

* How this side-profit business will not only give you the freedom to work less - a LOT less - but also to work from home or from anywhere in the world - and even retire faster than you ever dreamed possible (if you want to). And in this economy of “Where Did The Dream Go,” you will now see a NEW DREAM around which to build your life.

* The very first step you need to take that virtually guarantees your success when coaching others in your industry - almost everyone misses this step and it costs them dearly.

* How to escape forever exhausting one-to-one selling and move to the exhilarating experience of selling one-to-many and making a major impact on thousands (or even millions) of people's lives.

* How to turn your initial success into an ongoing, autopilot revenue stream. (How would it change your life if you had an additional profit center in your business that produced high six figure profits each year - year in and year out - while you slept?)

* How to break through into a new business model that will take your business to the next level and finally give you the freedom and independence you've been looking for while at the same time bringing back all the passion you once had for your business.

Studying successful people lets you see patterns of success, which is what I did with Dave & Alexis.

Keep your eyes open. You can learn from people around you. And if there is something I can do to help, please see my blog at http://bit.ly/ZMXVs

Dave & Alexis have the step by step, rock solid, PROVEN blueprint for helping you turn your business experience into a six or seven figure a year cash flow stream that will allow you to go part-time or even retire from your core business completely (if you want to) in short order.

Successful Entrepreneur - Never Give Up Your Dream

Work At Home - Get Some Help And Your Dream Can STILL Come True

Successful Entrepreneur - It's been your dream for SO long.

And with the World-wide Economic Meltdown of 2008 - 2009, it's gotten pretty tight around your place.

Remember your parents saying, “If you work hard enough, you can have anything in this life.” As you were graduated from high school, then college, and pursued that six-figure job, “work hard, play hard” became your mantra.

Nothing ever got in your way as you pursued the American Dream.

Until now.

That pink slips in your friends' paychecks were like an electric shock to your heart. Sure, you knew the economy was lousy. You knew thousands of other people were losing their jobs.

But it wasn’t supposed to happen to people you care about.

What do they say: It's a recession when someone else is out of a job; it's a depression when YOU are out of a job.

And you know exactly what they mean.

Your life was all planned out! Get an education, get a great job, marry a wonderful woman, and raise a terrific family. Take memorable vacations to exotic locations. Send your kids to top colleges, and enjoy all the sentimental, inspiring moments of your childrens’ budding lives while simultaneously saving for your retirement, where you and your wife would waltz off into the sunset of old age, reflecting on the deep meaning of your lives together.

SPLAT@*#+! Dream over! What went wrong?

That trickle down economy you heard about for years was finally trickling down... and it was blood of vanquished employees and businesses heading your direction.”

But this is personal.

What do you tell your wife and family? What about your mortgage, your health insurance, your retirement fund? How can an entire lifetime of blood, sweat, and tears be destroyed by outside forces like this?

Did you see the CNN.com report, “Employers slashed another 598,000 jobs off of U.S. payrolls in January, taking the unemployment rate up to 7.6%... The latest job loss is the worst since December 1974, and brings job losses to 1.8 million in just the last three months... the biggest 3-month drop since immediately after the end of World War II. The unemployment rate is now at its highest level since September, 1992.”

And they're talking over 10% in the West - and who knows if California will completely implode and fall off the Left Coast.

Where did the dream go? Worse yet, how can you recover in this difficult economy?

CNN went on to say, “The report also showed that 2.6 million people have now been out of work for more than six months, the most long-term unemployed since 1983.”

And that number only counts those unemployed who are still looking for work!

Like so many other successful, capable, hardworking men thrown callously onto the heaping human landfill of unemployed Americans, nothing could be more frightening. And though you have your own business, you can feel the wolves nipping at your heels.

You have no answer for your wife when she looks at you with fear and panic in her eyes.

The thought of not making it on your own almost makes you sick to your stomach.

What can you do to pick up the pieces created by so many others?

Experts suggest those who have the innate ability to recalibrate their goals and dreams have a better chance for survival. Think about it. You have incredible skills and a lifetime of achievements! Maybe you simply need to rethink how to use your talents.

Working from home is the right answer for millions. According to the New York Times, “Democratic pollster Mark Penn’s new book, Microtrends, notes that 4.2 million Americans now work exclusively from home (a nearly 100 percent increase from 1990).”

But as we know from the rapid evaporation of the American Dream, you need a realistic plan.

If you’re ready to think about a new journey toward personal and financial freedom, look here: http://TurboChargeMyWorkAtHome.

Help is out there. Refocus. Get some outside help to have you see how you can succeed.

And then let NOTHING stand in your way.

Email Marketing - Just Get Started

Learning To Use Email Marketing Is No More Difficult Than Learning How To Email

This next year will fly by... my 26 year old daughter Liz (LizSeymour.com) is getting married.

She's bought her dress, talked with some photographers, narrowed her list of reception halls, and wanted some engagement photographs.

She turned to the best photographer she knows: me, her loving dad.

Weeks ago she scheduled this time. Her teaching is over, her fiance's teaching is over (though he started teaching at a theater day camp already), and she wants some photography to announce their engagement.

I have photographed Liz MANY times, including all the images for her large CD release. And though I'm primarily an internet marketer now, she knows that my background and skill are always available to her.

So, how did she get me to say yes?

She asked. In email. Using terrific direct-response techniques.

Liz emailed me, had a great headline, put a clear deadline by which time I was to respond, and included a call-to-action.

And she didn't wimp out at the end - she followed through by being very clear in her request of me.

And isn't that what we do with email marketing? Don't we want to be just like Liz?

Use language that matches our clients and customers, ask clearly, state your case with emotional direct-response language, have a special offer and a deadline, and then a strong call-to-action.

Heck, she even used a sequence, just to make sure I wouldn't let my busy selling schedule get in the way of her engagement images.

But most importantly she just did it. She wrote. She asked. She followed up. She wasn't bashful.

Same should be true for YOUR writing... and since you probably need some help, look at my new information: Turn Your Words Into Gold - Go Here To Learn More!

Use your email marketing to profit... and remember how Liz did it.

Work At Home - Copywriting To Turn Your Words Into Gold

Learning To Write So That You Can Sell Things Is A VERY Important Skill

People often asked me, "Charlie, how can I write better so that after all my hard work, I can actually SELL my products and services?"

Like those asking me this, do you struggle when it comes time to write? Does it seem easy for others but not for you? Do you fear the time when you'll have something to sell but then you'll blow it when it comes to putting words in front of prospects?

You're not alone.

Other than Public Speaking, one of the things that most small business people fear is writing.

Even a blog like this one is a chore (painful chore!) for some people.

Believe me, I'm not a born writer. I didn't get A's in all my English classes. I haven't always enjoyed it or done well with it.

But once I learned how, the fear fell away and my success started to rise.

After all, I sold more than $247 MILLION in real estate and most of it started with direct mail pieces I sent out... so I had to be doing SOMETHING correctly.

Here's Why I Do So Well Now!

Several years ago I LEARNED how to write for marketing pieces. I studied direct response marketing, Dan Kennedy, and more. And now the list of those who have helped me is VERY extensive, including people like:

Dan Kennedy, Bill Glazer, Michael E. Gerber, Napoleon Hill,
Jay Abraham, Zig Ziglar, Corey Rudl, Don Crowther, John Reese,
Mark Victor Hansen, Gary Halbert, Tom Hopkins, Ken McCarthy,
Jeffrey Gitomer, Nido Quobein, Declan Dunn, Joe Sugarman,
Jay Conrad Levinson, Robert Ringer, TJ Rohleder, John Caples,
John Carlton, Dave Dee, John C. Maxwell, Brian Tracy,
Jim Edwards, Joe Vitale, Tom Antion, Mark Joyner,
Charles J. Lewis, Harry Beckwith, Robert Bly, Joe Girard,
Jeffrey J. Fox, Mike Stewart, Joan Stewart, Clate Mask,
Robert Collier, Bill Crosby, Brian Campbell, Howie Schwartz,
Andy Jenkins, Seth Godin, David Frees,
Brad Fallon, Frank Kern, Yanik Silver, Fred Gleeck, Derek Gehl,
and more

One on one, conferences and live courses, home courses, study by myself using their materials.

Each one imparted great information and understanding.

But YOU Don't Have Enough Time To Study
The Way I Studied, So What Can You Do?

How can you learn all of this without taking the years it took me to learn this?

I have worked hard to create great information for you. So you won't have to study: no long evenings, no grad school, no trial and error as you figure things out.

Even if you decide that you don't need my materials, you should look at the "sales letter" which uses all the tips, tricks, and techniques that I share with you.

You'd Think I Suggested PORNO The Way My Kids Reacted

Even an old-line, traditional marketing company like Proctor and Gamble sees the benefits in Social Marketing

I sure took grief from my two grown daughters (and my future son-in-law) at dinner the other night. You'd think I had suggested PORNO by the way they reacted to one of my posts when I wrote on Facebook. We all cut short our posts to Twitter and our status on Facebook, but even acknowledging that, I don't see what is wrong with what I wrote.

Here's what I wrote before:

Talking to 13 year old girls through Social Media http://bit.ly/8JCz6 3min video - more effective than regular tv ads

Proctor and Gamble is finding how powerful Social Marketing is for them when they present their feminine products, and being a Social Marketing Expert and Consultant, I like to use real-life examples when I can. This stuff really works, and big-old-companies are finally coming around.

Like when Ford was just highlighted for changing people's minds about their hybrids... see the article here: http://bit.ly/s4hZh My comment is there in their growing list of comments and I suggest that people write to Jim Thomas who owns Springfield Ford in Springfield, PA 19064. Write him about the best deal you can get and tell him Charlie Seymour Jr sent you: Jim.Thomas@Springfieldemail.com

Or when I blog about all kinds of examples at http://bit.ly/24eYTO I spend a lot of time blogging, and people now know, like, and trust me and seek me out for advice.

Or in this P+G example when they aimed all their marketing at 13 year old girls to speak their language, talk about their issues, give them a voice in the Social Networking arena. They didn't push their products... they "pulled" the girls into discussions on topics the girls were having already and then let them discover the products that were right for each girl. And dollar for dollar their results are smashing records for them.

So I told my family (which teased me to no end over dinner about my post) that P&G is doing terrific work and I hoped they will watch the short video at http://bit.ly/8JCz6 which explains it fully.

Please see that video now.

If I can help you, too, with your Social Marketing, let me know. And if I can help you Turbo Charge your work at home, let me know that too.

Marketing Success - You Can't Outsell Your Closest Associations

You Are The Average of the Five People You Spend Most Time With

Productive Associations:

You cannot outperform your most persistent associations.

If you, like most of the kids in the movie Slumdog Millionaire, never leave the tightly-knit fabric of this small society, your thinking, your actions, your thoughts about money will generally be just like everyone else.

Think about it – the paths you travel most days of your life. If you drive the same roads to work every day, you’ll never learn what is just on the other side of the hill.

Keeping to the same group of people (and never looking outside the group) is like living like the Amish who shun the outside world. Their practices seldom change and some say that marrying in the group leads to a lowering of thinking and ideas.

We are the average of the five people we spend most time with. Listen to that again: We are the average of the five people we spend most time with.

If you never brought a new idea into your Board Meetings, if you never welcomed a new Board Member, if you never had an outsider take your temperature and make recommendations, never brought in a new CEO you’d be doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result: which Albert Einstein pointed out is the definition of insanity.

Staying closed, groups and individuals will never outperform the thinking their group and will always be satisfied with normal results.

The same is true for a company and it’s employees.

A company used to making, say, $12 million a year will be satisfied in that range. A sales man used to selling $1 million of product will be satisfied in that range. “We’ve always done that” or “We’ve always done it that way” is a sure sign that stagnation has set in and that average results, at best, can be achieved.

For you need an atmosphere where people can challenge your thinking and assumptions. People who have earned the right to challenge, through their experiences and success.

Creating Good Website Design

Website Design - For Business or for Beauty?

Ahhhh, beautiful design: it pleases our eye, it's great to look at, it often inspires us and makes us happy.

But is it good for business - at least the way MOST people use it?

Believe me, I have love art, photography, theater, and great website design. As a pro photographer (as ONE of the many things I do) for high end family portraits, weddings, and bat and bar mitzvahs, I always create the most emotional, beautiful work I can.

"I'm creating the heirlooms of tomorrow today," I say... and if you stop to think about it, that's what is happening when we freeze a moment in time.

  • The bride and groom just after their wedding but before her diagnosis of MS.

  • The mother and son two days before his Bar Mitzvah (the last time he rested his head on his mom's shoulder, she says).

  • Three children on a common summer chaise in their backyard, but "painted" in the computer to enhance its beauty and make it a lasting memory before they grew up and moved away.

So... is YOUR website an art piece or a business site? Check my other blog to see what I wrote about it: Good Web Design - For Beauty Or For Business? Click Here To Read it!

Don't be swayed by someone whose background is art and design when yours is marketing and making money from a business. Keep your head on straight and your priorities right along with it, and your website will help you earn lots of money.

Is it good for people to be deeply attached to their pets?

What Can Pets Teach Us About Working With Our Clients

A lot.

We can learn a thing or two from our pets.

Consider these habits:

- Be quiet around those who’ve had a hard day.

- Sit close, nuzzle, whimper when they do, and stare sympathetically.

- Refresh yourself by going out for a walk and fresh air.

- Run and play daily.

- Take a nap when you’re tired.

- Stretch before jumping into full action.

- Rush to greet those you love.

- Dig until you find your own bone.

- Protect your personal space and let others know they violate it.

- Be loyal to those you love.

Wow! And who knew that my dog, Junior, could teach me so much!

Now all we have to do is pay that much attention to EVERYTHING around us, learn the lessons they teach, and apply them to our work at home businesses.

Turning the First Buying Signal Into a Sale

Don't Ignore The Most Important Buying Signal: The Invitation To See You!

In Jeffrey J. Fox’s 2006 book, Secrets of Great Rainmakers: The Keys to Success and Wealth, he offers some succinct insights into marketing in our digital age that anyone, with any business, can benefit from. For example:

"The customer already knows his present supplier is a good company with good products. The customer already knows something about your products, and he knows your products have higher prices than what he is currently buying. So why did the customer agree to see you?

"He agreed to see you because he has a problem, and he thinks you might be able to solve it!"

When you begin to see yourself as a problem solver for everyone you come in contact with, not simply an order taker - and as you begin to shift your thinking from "employee" to "business owner" no matter what your position really is (though every entrepreneur should already be thinking this way) - you greatly enhance your value. It's just in how you approach LIFE that makes the difference.

Figure out what’s bugging the customer or client, offer a resolution and you may have won a customer for life. And do it from HIS side of the table, recognizing that you are advising and not selling.

Fox goes on to explain, "What the first-meeting customer is really saying is, 'Look, I made a mistake hiring my present supplier. But I can’t admit the mistake or it will hurt my career. I have a problem and I need a dramatic solution that I can bring to my company before this bites me in the butt. Please, please help me.'"

This highlights another important point. If your solution can help make your customer look good, you further position yourself as a valuable player in your customer's business, rather than simply a vendor. Vendors are commodities, to be avoided at all costs. Advisors; TRUSTED Advisors are extremely valuable.

Fox concludes, "Customer buy signals are acts in words or deeds that suggest a propensity to agree, to continue, to buy. Buy signals include customer smiles, nodding heads, agreements to test, technical questions, scheduling another meeting.

"But the first buy signal is when the customer agrees to see the salesperson, to make an appointment, to take the meeting.

"In today’s busy world, decision makers do not schedule sales calls unless they have a need.....If the customer agrees to meet, the customer has a need."

It’s time you turn the first "buy signal" into a sale for you!

So stay alert as you turbo charge your work at home: people all around you may be asking for help and not a purchase... but in the long run, you will win a deeply committed client or customer who will stick by you for a long time.

Can You Really Work At Home In Your Underwear Or Pjs?

What does it do for you to stay in your jps when you work??

Can You Really Work at Home in Your Pajamas?

Were you unhappy at work? Do you remember daydreaming about working from home? You are certainly not alone.

Millions of successful, professional people are finding that working at home is the answer, whether they have been downsized, rightsized, paradigm-shifted, or simply couldn’t take hearing another buzzword.

But, perhaps their dream is not as easy as they feel... and you know that.

Of course, the work at home industry is not without its own buzzwords. Like freelancing, outsourcing, virtual assistance, consulting and others which continually overlap, making the whole work at home concept very confusing for first-timers.

Perhaps even more mind-blowing and confusing than these word games, though, is the pervasive concept that everyone who works at home does so in their pjs, coffee in one hand, sugary treat in the other, and both slipper-clad feet up on the desk.

Sinple, easy, idyllic. But you know better.

Enticing as this image may be, only Hugh Hefner gets away with this trick. For the rest of us, pajamas simply won’t work, and here’s why:

Wearing pjs or gym clothes may interfere with your productivity. Choosing a blend of casual comfort and professionalism creates the best work at home wardrobe. Our clothes define how we feel and, to a great extent, who we are.

Remember that time you ran a quick errand in a pair of old sweats and a slightly ripped t-shirt? Remember how you ran into Sue from across the street and avoided her like the plague?

The same thinking applies to working at home. Sure, no one is going to see you. Sure, you’re only talking on the phone, typing on the computer, making notes on your legal pad. But YOU can see you.

When you dress for the job, you feel prepared to meet the day’s challenges, ready to present yourself as a competent professional.

Must you put on a full suit and tie? No. But pajamas aren’t going to cut it either.

If you’ve ever tried it, you know what I mean.

These four tips will help you remain comfortable and productive:

1. Always go for comfort, but not too much. No highly-starched shirts, ties, or wool that drives you nuts. An Oxford-style or Polo-style shirt is great looking, comfortable, long-wearing, (and you’re half-ready for the golf course, just in case).

2. Sweats are for the gym. Pajamas are for bed. Your office is not where you work out or take a nap. Feeling too comfortable and casual may spill over into your demeanor, and this can translate into unprofessionalism. Especially if you are just starting out on your own: you need to build professionalism into everything you do.

3. And remember your shoes. Shoes impact work attitude, believe it or not. Barefoot feet say “Relax! Take a load off!” and, while you don’t want to be a ball of nerves, a workday is not a day at the beach.

4. Shave and shower to begin your day. Grooming has a psychological effect on mental preparedness. You simply “feel” ready after a nice hot shower and a shave. And get started at a set time each day... say 7:30 AM. Especially if you're married and your wife and kids have left for much of the day. Get going because it's harder to work productively once they come home.

Still believe you can work at home in your pjs? Not if success is part of your master plan. The concept is simply more sales pitch than professional reality. At the end of the day, reality is what pays the bills.

Work at Home Selling - What IS Selling To You?

Selling: How Do YOU See Selling - Is It Something YOU Do?

This article pertains to those of us in businesses where the client visits us or where we go to their home.

While not every example fits each of us, all examples can work if thought through and properly applied:

What do YOU think selling is? Who is a salesperson?

Is a mother, father, priest, rabbi, politician, teacher, convenience-store clerk, restaurant waiter selling anything?

Do you think "selling" is something bad, something negative, something you wouldn’t want your child to grow up doing?

Here’s my definition of selling: To find out what YOU want and help you get it. And then get you and those you recommend to do it over and over again. Period.

And with THAT definition, it can apply to everyone. The lawyer in her suite of offices, the electrician making a house call, the retail shop owner when people stop by, and the computer expert clearing the bugs away.

Selling is NOT forcing someone into a corner to buy, NOT holding a gun to his head, NOT limiting alternatives.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t show our products and services in their best light, using proper words and methods to highlight why our clients and customers might want to take advantage of what we have.

Everyone likes to OWN and most of us like to BUY, but none of us likes to be SOLD.

"Well, I sold your friend Mrs. Smith this same book last week." "Oh yeh?" your client thinks, "you’re not going to 'sell' me!"

This is important: people buy for Emotional Reasons and they justify their purchases with Logic. Happens in just about all businesses.

Remember that the First Impression is always the Lasting Impression. Begin with your best information, your best package, your most successful product or service. And showcase it in its best light, always.

The client will always remember it...and you.

So, can you use some help? Do you need to Turbo Charge Your Work At Home? Can you use more clients paying you more money for less work?

Watch this short movie to see if it resonates with you. And then let me know.
